The Illinois EPA has developed a regulatory proposal to limit nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from stationary reciprocating internal combustion engines and turbines. This proposal is intended to address federal requirements for Phase II of the NOx SIP Call and the requirements under the 8-hour ozone and fine particle National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS).
The proposed regulation would apply to engines rated at 500 brake horsepower or greater and turbines rated at 3.5 megawatts or greater. This proposal contains exemptions for small or infrequently used engines and turbines. The proposed regulation and associated documents are available below. Contact Gary Beckstead, Illinois EPA, Bureau of Air at Gary.Beckstead@illinois.gov, if you have questions or comments regarding this proposal.
We have scheduled a meeting at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 14, 2005, to discuss this proposal. The meeting will be held at Illinois EPA’s headquarters located at 1021 North Grand Avenue East, Springfield, IL. For a map of the Springfield area and the location of our office, click here, or call 217/524-4343. Please use the North entrance to enter the building. The security guard will direct you to the meeting room.
