We find that the lines at testing facilities are the longest at the end
of the month, so “Don't Delay – Test Today!” Keep in mind
that many motorists choose Saturdays to go to the testing facilities, so
if you can, plan your test for a weekday. Remember, neglecting to test
your vehicle can result in registration denial.

The Tinley Park station provides service to the south suburbs of Chicago. This
brand new "OBD only" emissions testing
station is located at 7460 W. Duvan Drive in Tinley Park. “OBD only”
stations can perform emissions tests on vehicles equipped with an on-board computer.
Most vehicles that are model year 1996 and newer can be tested at Tinley Park. Due
to the high volume of testing occurring at many of the older stations, such as the
Markham station, Tinley Park may be a faster and convenient alternative for many
local residents. Currently, the Tinley Park station is experiencing short wait
times, and with no appointments necessary, drivers can get on their way faster.

IEPA Improves Vehicle Emissions Testing Network
New network adds stations, allows appointments,
makes testing faster, more convenient and less costly to taxpayers
SPRINGFIELD --- The Illinois Environmental Protection Agency has announced
improvements to the vehicle emissions testing network that includes new testing
sites and enabling motorists to schedule appointments for testing, making it faster
and more convenient to comply with vehicle emissions laws.

Tips for a successful test:
- Please bring your vehicle to an Air Team test station as soon as possible
after receiving your test notice. If your vehicle is rejected or fails the
inspection, this will provide ample time to repair the vehicle and have it
re-inspected prior to license plate expiration.
- Test stations are closed on Sundays and state holidays. The busiest
testing day is Saturday.
Prior To Arriving at the Test Station:
- Please bring your vehicle's test notice with you to the test station.
- Make sure the vehicle brought in for testing matches the vehicle identified
on the test notice.
- Please drive your vehicle for at least 15 minutes prior to entering the
test station to ensure that your vehicle is adequately warmed-up for the
inspection.
- If your 1996 or newer OBD-equipped vehicle has a covered or otherwise
obstructed diagnostic link connector (DLC), please open or remove the cover
(consult owner's manual for location and instructions), or remove the
obstruction prior to arriving at the test station.
- If your 1996 or newer OBD-equipped vehicle has recently been serviced, or
if the battery has been disconnected, please drive the vehicle for several
days before bringing it in for inspection.
- Make sure your gas cap is present. If your gas cap locks, bring the key
with you.
- Ensure your vehicle is safe to operate. Your vehicle may be rejected if
the test cannot be safely conducted.
At the Test Station:
- When you arrive, leave the engine running unless directed otherwise.
- Inform the inspector when entering the test lane if the license plate
number on the vehicle is different from the number on your test notice.
