Danville Ditch Contamination
On June 1, 2010 the Illinois EPA conducted an inspection of ditches along
Mabin and Griffin Streets in Danville, in response to complaints of strong
odors made by nearby residents. Violation notices were sent to Double
S, CSX railroad and, as the local government body with jurisdiction over
the city’s
stormwater management, the City of Danville. In response to the concerns
of nearby residents, Rep. Bill Black of Danville requested Illinois EPA
participate in a June 23 public meeting to answer citizen questions.
Remedies to the problems are underway.
