Environmental Progress - Summer 1996

Ozone Education Materials Available

Resource materials to educate businesses, community groups, and the general public about the ozone problem in northeastern Illinois have been developed by the Illinois EPA, the Chicago Area Transportation Study (CATS), and the CATS Council of Mayors. Materials available include a 27 page illustrated booklet, a 10 minute video, and a slide show. The materials cover the basics of ozone, and offer suggestions for ways the target groups can help reduce these air quality problems.

In other education efforts, the Illinois EPA is planning an intensive multi-media campaign for the 1996 summer ozone season in the Chicago metropolitan area. Television, radio, and print messages will focus on familiarizing the public with actions they can take to help reduce ozone formation.

Additional information can be obtained by contacting Julie Neposchlan at the Illinois EPA, 217-782-6936.
