Environmental Progress - Summer 1996New Managers for Public Information and Pollution PreventionDennis H. McMurray has been named manager of the Illinois EPA's Office of Public Information and Kevin P. Greene is the new manager of the Office of Pollution Prevention. McMurray joined the Agency on July 1, 1996 and Greene on July 16, 1996.
Following graduation, McMurray worked as a reporter for the Alton Telegraph and later became chief of the newspaper's Edwardsville bureau. In 1978 he became chief of the Telegraph's Springfield bureau in the Statehouse, a post he held until May 1996. McMurray was the newspaper's editorial page editor prior to joining the Illinois EPA. During his newspaper career, he earned professional awards from the Associated Press,
Illinois Press Association and Press Association of Greater St. Louis. He resides in
Springfield.
He previously was research director for 17 years for Citizens for a Better Environment, including work on pollution prevention, recycling, acid rain and research on utility and steel mill pollution control. Greene was legislative liaison for five years for the Illinois Environmental Council,
authoring several pieces of legislation, including the Toxics Pollution Prevention Act and
the Solid Waste Planning and Recycling Act. He recently moved to Springfield. |
