Employees of the Month
Editors note: For
several years, Total Quality Management (TQM) has been an
integral part of Illinois EPA's regular operating procedures.
Part of that process involves recognizing outstanding efforts by
employees who "go the extra mile" to ensure that
quality is part of every job they do. Individual divisions and
bureaus select their "employee of the month," and an
Agency-wide Employee of the Month is selected from their number.
Starting with this issue of Environmental
Progress, we will carry photos of the three Agency-wide
Employees of the Month for the most recent quarter.
Congratulations to all of them for a quality job well done!
| Gino Bruni (Bureau of Land, Maywood
regional office) was named Agency Employee of the Month
for June 1996. A geologist with more than 11 years of
field operations service, he was nominated by fellow
workers in recognition of his efficiency,
professionalism, his participation in workgroups and
Quality Action Teams, and his willingness to help new
employees "learn the ropes." Particular
recognition was given to his work in several complicated
enforcement actions and his contributions to meeting the
workload related to the "Silver Shovel"
investigation. |

Bonnie Sawyer (Division of Legal
Counsel, Bureau of Air) was named Agency Employee of the
month for July 1996 for a list of qualities including her
efficiency and professionalism in handling a substantial
caseload, her consistent high quality work in such
diverse fields as the emissions trading program and the
Title V permit program, as well as her skill in
identifying legal and policy issues that reach across
programs. |
| Randy Ressler (Administration, Print
Shop) is the August 1996 Agency Employee of the Month.
His selection recognized the scope of his activities in
the Agency print shop from working in the darkroom to
maintenance to operating machinery in the bindery. His
promptness, as well as his willingness to help co-workers
or to undertake any task prompted his fellow workers to
nominate him. |
