| From regulating auto vehicle emissions
to collecting and reusing methane gas from landfills, the
Illinois EPA's daily activities cover a lot of diverse
areas. To help the public better understand what the
Agency is and does, a monthly television show, "Our
Environment Today" has been developed for local
public access stations. The program uses a documentary
style to illustrate current environmental issues around
the state, and topics on "Our Environment
Today" are as varied as the Agency's day-to-day
activities. The October 1996 program went 300 feet below
ground to examine the Chicago area Tunnel and Reservoir
Program (TARP), a massive program to capture excess storm
water and prevent flooding in residential areas;
December's program looked at the mining industry and the
reclamation of strip-mined areas.
Local cable television listings show which public
access channels in the state carry "Our Environment
Today."
