Environmental Progress - Spring 1997Blood Bank Contributions Continue to Grow in 1996Donations by Illinois EPA employees to the Central Illinois Community Blood Bank increased again during 1996, with 73 donors giving a total of 244 units of blood. In 1995, 76 donors gave 235 units. The 244 units donated during the last calendar year include donations of platelets, specialized blood components that benefit cancer and leukemia patients. The Central Illinois Community Blood Bank serves St. John's Hospital, Memorial Medical Center and Doctors Hospital in Springfield; Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville; Boyd Memorial Hospital, Carrollton; St. Vincent's Hospital, Taylorville, and Carlinville Area Hospital, Carlinville. |
