Employees of the Month
Editor's note: Each month, the Illinois EPA recognizes outstanding
employees for efforts to make quality part of every job they do. Below are three
Agency-wide Employees of the Month for the most recent quarter. Congratulations to all of
them for a quality job well done!
Scott
O. Phillips, in the Illinois EPA's Division of Legal Counsel, was the Agency's
Employee of the Month for March.Scott supervises the daily efforts of 20 attorneys and
three paralegals assigned to the Bureau of Land, where his first-hand knowledge of
regulatory matters has aided in a number of successful proposals and the drafting of
complex regulations for such programs as the Tiered Approach to Corrective Action
Objectives (TACO), regulations for leaking underground storage tanks, and the site
remediation program.
He was instrumental in "engineering" many tracking systems that have
expedited effective and efficient delivery of legal services both for Bureau of Land
issues and the Agency as a whole. |
Tim
Kelly, Bureau of Water, Springfield Regional Office, was the Agency's Employee of
the Month for April. Assigned to the planning section, Tim's major responsibility is
working with existing watershed groups in developing plans to protect their watersheds. He
also works with local citizens to form new watershed planning groups. In adddition to
writing the manual used to make land-use assessments, and co-authoring a report on
Standard Operating Procedures for Watershed Assessments, Tim works with the lakes unit to
provide expertise in working with watershed planning groups. He is currently involved in
several fast track restoration projects and serves on a number of technical committees
assisting volunteer groups. |
Bill
Walkenbach, Division of Administration, Office Services, was named Agency
Employee of the Month for May.A member of the Agency's maintenance staff, Bill has
developed an excellent working relationship with his co-workers and a reputation for
meeting challenges with responses that are both quick and correctly done.
During last winter's severe storms, Bill worked many extra hours to clear sidewalks to
provide safe footing for fellow workers at the Churchill Road headquarters. He was also a
key player in the moves of Bureau of Land staff and units of the Office of Public
Information from the Churchill Road to the Sangamo complex headquarters. |
Congratulations to these employees who typify the best qualities of the hundreds of
Illinois EPA workers.
