Environmental Progress - Spring 1998Public Broadcasting Station Gets Volunteer Help from AgencyLights! Camera! Pledge! A PBS station serving the Springfield area received fundraising help recently from some IEPA employees, as staff from the Bureau of Air donated time to help the station raise funds to stay on the air. Darwin Burkhart and Dick Forbes, both of the Bureau of Air, appeared Dec. 13 as on-camera talent seeking pledges. Darwin made another appearance the next day with Julie Neposchlan, the Bureau of Airs Public Information Officer, and even Julies 4-year-old daughter Laurel put in an appearance for one of the childrens shows. On Dec. 14, Naomi Greene, an intern working at the Agency as part of her Masters Degree program at the University of Illinois/Springfield, helped out on the air during the Engelbert Humperdink and Gael Force programs. Behind the scenes, Ron Early, who works in the Agencys microfilm unit, regularly assists with camera operation during the stations quarterly pledge drives and Agency photographer Bob Wiatrolik assisted with pictures at another recent PBS fund-raising function held at Springfields Lincoln Library. |
