Seminar Series Set On
Basic Compliance
Sessions will focus on key
environmental regulatory programs.
The Illinois EPA, in conjunction with the
Illinois Emergency Management Agency, the state Department of Commerce
and Community Affairs and the Illinois Chamber of commerce will be hosting
a three part seminar series concentrating on environmental compliance
in Illinois, in February, March, April and May of 2002.
Aimed at those responsible for the administration and implementation
of facility environmental compliance, the series will provide a review
and update of key environmental regulatory programs. A "virtual" model
facility will be used to demonstrate how, where and when compliance events
are triggered. An unusual aspect of the seminars allows questions and
answers at any time during each presentation.
Morning agendas for all sessions includes discussions of media issues,
standards and regulations, permit requirements, monitoring and reporting,
and compliance, inspection and enforcement. Afternoon sessions will be
tailored to respond to areas of interest indicated on registration forms.
Sessions focusing on waste and chemical safety issues are scheduled
for Feb. 14 in Springfield and February 21 in the Chicago area. Air related
issues will be the area of concern for meetings on March 20 in Springfield
and April 10 in the Chicago area. Sessions dealing with water issues are
planned for May 7 in Springfield and May 14 in the Chicago area. Specific
locations and times are still being finalized and will be announced when
determined. Additional information can be obtained from either D.K. Himer
or Sid Marder at the Illinois Chamber, 217-522-5512.
