Larry Wert, president and general manager of NBC5, WMAQ-TV Chicago, received an award for "Outstanding Participation and Support of Clean Air Programs during the eighth annual Awards and Recognition Breakfast sponsored by the Partners for Clean Air in June in Chicago.

Thirty-five groups and 10 individuals were recognized for outstanding voluntary efforts to improve air quality in the Chicago area through innovative engineering, ride sharing efforts, alternate fuel promotion or participation in the Illinois Green Fleet program.

The programs initiated in the Chicago area by the Illinois EPA and the Partners for Clean Air were recognized by U.S. EPA and the Partners were named recipients of the 2002 Clean Air Excellence Awards.
