Environmental Progress - Summer 2004Illinois EPA Radio Shows Available on the Air and on the WebEach month IEPA staff produces and narrates a radio show spotlighting current environmental issues being addressed in Illinois. Since 2000, over 40 programs have been generated in the Agency Studio with topics ranging from Phytoremediation and Green Architecture to Alternative Fuel Vehicles and Shoreline Restoration at Washington Park.
Kate Brickman tapes an IEPA radio show. "While putting together the radio shows every month, we never cease to learn new and interesting things about our environment and what the Agency is doing," said Bob Wiatrolik, Agency Photographer and Video Producer who also supervises production of the monthly programs. Graduate Public Service Intern Kate Brickman, the voice of the Illinois EPA radio show, has worked in the IEPA Studio since August 2003 and is very pleased with what has been accomplished. "I think that the radio program provides a great opportunity for the public, and even employees like myself at the Agency, to find out about specific projects with which the IEPA is involved. It's great first-hand information about some pretty innovative ways in which the environment is being protected today. And it's fantastic to hear from listeners that they have discovered something new and interesting, and perhaps have gained a greater appreciation for the efforts of the Illinois EPA," according to Kate. The segment is broadcast each month as part of a feature of the WUIS 91.9 FM-Springfield Living in Illinois program. The feature can be heard first on the fourth Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. with a rebroadcast the following Sunday at 3:30 p.m. Living in Illinois also airs on WSIU 91.9 FM-Carbondale on the fourth Saturday of the month at 6:30 a.m. Past shows are accessible for listening on the Agency web site, with a brief description and date of airing. You will need the Real One Player to listen to these radio programs. If you do not already have it, you can download the free version from Real Networks. |
