The Response Action Program cleans up hazardous substances at sites that
present an imminent and substantial endangerment to human health and the
environment but that may not be addressed by another Federal or State
cleanup program.
The sites handled by the Response Action Program include abandoned landfills,
old manufacturing plants, former waste oil recycling operations, contaminated
agrichemical facilities and other areas where surface water, groundwater,
soil and air may be contaminated with hazardous substances.
The annual report summarizes the activities of the Response Action Program
for the most recent year.
