Suggested Letter Template to Request Off-Site Access
In conducting best efforts to obtain off-site access, a UST owner or operator must, at a minimum, send a letter by certified mail to the owner of any off-site property to which access is required to perform an environmental investigation.
The suggested template is an example of a letter that contains the information such a letter must contain. This template is provided for information purposes only, and its use is not required at all sites. Owners or operators may propose to use another letter that satisfies the requirements of 35 Ill. Adm. Code 732.411(b).
The suggested template is provided only as a guide for owners or operators who must satisfy the requirements set forth in 35 Ill. Adm. Code 732.411(b). Use of the suggested template does not guarantee satisfaction of the requirements of 35 Ill. Adm. Code 732.411 or acceptance of the letter by the Illinois EPA. Each letter submitted to the Illinois EPA will be reviewed based upon the applicable regulations and site-specific circumstances. Letters other than this template may be acceptable as long as they are appropriate for the site and satisfy the requirements of 35 Ill. Adm. Code 732.411(b).
