Meds with Water, not in Water Summit Conference
On Oct. 1, 2008, more than 100 representatives of a wide variety
of organizations, including healthcare providers, pharmacists and pharmaceutical
manufacturers, wastewater and drinking water treatment operators, local and
state government, law enforcement, educators and environmental and watershed
protection advocacy groups, participated in the “Meds with Water, not
in Water” Summit Conference hosted by IEPA at the University of Illinois
at Springfield.
Besides hearing presentations on pilot sampling efforts and collection programs,
the participants met in sector breakout discussion groups to brainstorm how
to expand public awareness and opportunities for environmentally-responsible
medication disposal across Illinois.
