News Releases - 1996Hoffman Estates Man Honored for Water Plant Operation
Springfield, Ill. -- Steven Pittman, Hoffman Estates, operations manager for a water supply operation serving seven suburban Chicago communities, has been honored as 1996 distribution category Operator of the Year by the Illinois Potable Water Supply Operators Association (IPWSOA). Pittman works with the Northwest Suburban Municipal Joint Action Water Agency of Chicago, providing Lake Michigan water to approximately a quarter million users in Schaumburg, Elk Grove Village, Mount Prospect, Hoffman Estates, Hanover Park, Rolling Meadows and Streamwood. Operator of the Year is the highest professional honor operators can receive for service n the waterworks industry. Annual wards are presented in surface, groundwater, and distribution categories, with two runners-up in each division. Pittman received the recognition and a trophy during awards banquet ceremonies at the 65th annual IPWSOA conference in Springfield Thursday (Sept. 12). The conference is co-sponsored by the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, which regulates public water supplies in the state. Runners-up in the 1996 distribution category judging were Gregory A. Bates, of the Jersey County Rural Water Co., Jerseyville, and David J. Speagle, of the Langleyville Public Water District. Steven Scully, E. Moline, was named Operator of the Year in the surface water category, and William L. Merritt, Beecher, was designated Operator of the Year for groundwater systems. Runners-up in the surface division were Larry D. Goldsmith, Streator, and Joe A. Marucco, Taylorville. In the groundwater category, runners-up were Rickey L. Broaddus, Raymond, and Doug Chambers, E. Alton. |
