Carlinville, Ill. -- A Lake Festival will be held from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Sept.12 on the shores of Lake Carlinville, just south of Carlinville in Macoupin County. The event is being sponsored by the city of Carlinville and the Illinois Environmental Protection Agency.

During the festival, lake management professionals and citizens involved in managing, protecting, using and improving inland lakes will discuss a variety of topics including monitoring, fisheries assessments and management, volunteer/citizen involvement and ways of safely enjoying the lake. Local students will describe lake and lake watershed activities in which they have participated.

Environmental education activities for the children are planned as part of this family event. Carlinville Boy Scouts will offer food service.

The festival site is approximately three miles south of Carlinville. Visitors should take Rt. 4 south to the lake road west. Directional signs will be posted. Admission is free and the event is open to the public.
