Springfield, Ill. -- Representatives of the Illinois Environmental
Protection Agency and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will
jointly conduct a public meeting Sept. 20 in Georgetown in anticipation
of a formal IEPA public hearing Sept. 27 on the Black Beauty Coal Co.'s
proposed Vermilion Grove coal mine. The public meeting, which begins at
7 p.m. on Sept. 20, is intended to explain the permitting process and
provide information to assist the public in participating effectively
in a formal public hearing scheduled for Sept. 27. Both sessions will

before it can operate. On hand at the Sept. 20 public meeting will be
representatives from the IDNR as well as staff from the Illinois EPA's

Supplies, Division of Water Pollution Control, and the Office of Community
Relations.
