News Releases - 2002Illinois EPA and U.S. EPA Host Public Meeting On Ellsworth Industrial Park Investigation
Springfield, Ill. -- The Illinois EPA and the U.S. EPA are hosting a Public Availability Session on Wednesday, September 4, to give the citizens of the Downers Grove area an opportunity to meet with state and local officials to discuss the ongoing investigation of the Ellsworth Industrial Park in Downers Grove, as well as recent findings. The session will be held from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m., at the Downers Grove Village Hall, 801 Burlington Avenue, Downers Grove. A technical presentation will be given at 6:30 on the data from the Illinois EPA and U.S. EPA field work in the industrial park investigation. After the presentation, representatives from participating organizations will be available until 9:00, for one-on-one discussions with citizens. Also to be discussed will be $2 million in state funds for infrastructure assistance approved by Governor George H. Ryan, at the request of Illinois EPA Director Renee Cipriano, related to contamination of the private wells in DuPage County. Illinois EPA representatives will be available to take citizen suggestions on the use of these funds. Also participating will be the Illinois Department of Public Health, Illinois Attorney General's Office, DuPage County, Village of Downers Grove and the DuPage Public Health Department.
