P2 at School
- Have students compile a list of items in their homes that are considered
hazardous or that create hazardous waste when produced and/or disposed.
- Recycle paper, aluminum and card board.
- Have students conduct an energy audit, waste audit or water use audit
at the school.
- Start a butterfly, bird or native landscaping garden to the school
can reduce the amount of areas that have to be mowed.
- Install energy efficient lighting at the school. Turn off lights
when needed.
- Don't make extra copies. Find out how many are needed and then make
copies. Make double-sided copies.
- Use washable dishes in the cafeteria.
- Separate food scraps and start a school compost pile.
- Have students analyze ways your school can cut down on the amount
of trash thrown away each day & make a list of all the possibilities.
- In the lab use non-mercury containing thermometers. Don't keep an
overage of chemicals in the lab.
- Install motion sensitive control water faucets.
